We'd like to extend our thanks to everyone that came out to Marcus Garvey Park on Sunday, June 19th to experience the 2011 Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic and wish congratulations to all the day's winners, including the victor of the overall Omnium, Leif Lampater - who last year finished second in this event behind his teammate Christian Grasmann.

The day began with the kids races where the young'ns got busy on the track competing in a series of educational races and got a chance to score some free bike gear. Throughout the day, BMX pro crew members Jay Rodriquez, Danny Parks and others on hand entertained kids of all ages putting on an aerial show that was worth the trip to the event in itself.

The day of high speed competition started with John Blake and Godfrey Pollydore winning the Cat 4 Men's Points race, and Cat 2/3 Men's Points race respectively. Kristin Lotito of West Hempstead New York held off a talented group of Pros to win the Women's Pro 1/2/3 Points race, and set the stage for the main event of the day, the David Walker Memorial Elite Men's Professional race. Reformatted to showcase the speed and skill of some of the world's best track racers, this two round Omnium consisted of both a points race, and an elimination race that kept the crowd riveted. Leif Lampater placed first overall and first in the Pro Men's Points race while Douglas Repacholi won the Pro Men's Elimination race by pulling away from the pack early and crossing the finish line well ahead of the field.

The final event of the day was the three lap Keirin Exhibition finale. Riders for this race were placed behind a motorcycle that accelerated from about 15 mph to 30 mph before pulling off and launching the riders into a lap long sprint for the finish. Godfrey Pollydore - also the winner of the Cat 2/3 Men's Points race - shocked the field and made an excellent sprint to win in a very close and exciting heat.

Check out a few photos from the event below, and for anybody that didn't have a chance to watch our live race day webcast stream, you can see the archived video featuring the entirety of the Men's Omnium and Keirin Exhibition along with more photos over at http://www.rockstargames.com/skyscraperclassic/2011. Also visit the official Harlem Skyscraper website for all of the day's results, and more event day media.

The 38th Annual Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic Is Fast Approaching, Sunday June 19th - Check Out Updated Schedule of Events & Webcast Info

Just around the bend, a week from this Sunday, will be the 38th annual Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic held at Marcus Garvey Park up in Harlem USA (121st Street and Fifth Ave) on Father's Day, June 19th, 2011. We cycling enthusiasts here at Rockstar are getting pumped and preparing for what we hope will be another great Sunday in the park for one and all on this, our third consecutive time proudly sponsoring the event.

Today, we've just launched our 2011 event page detailing all of the information about this year's Classic - which has been reformatted to preview the new Olympic track racing format, the Omnium - a difficult and fast paced racing style that was invented and popularized right here in our hometown of New York City. Incorporated to attract the casual spectator, the new format showcases the speed and skill of the riders, with a series of races that are all held on the same day.

As always, the event offers a great time for both serious cycling fans - with a rare chance to watch world-class professional cyclists like Franco Marvulli, Christian Grasmann and Leif Lampater in action - and for families looking to spend a great day in the park with activities like the "Bike Bonanza", where kids can improve their riding skills, get a free bike helmet, swap their bike for a better one, or register their bike through the New York Police Department. Bike New York is teaming with the Department of Transportation’s Education and Outreach division, DOT Bike Program, and Recycle-A-Bicycle to offer the program free to children of all ages.

The day’s events are a true celebration of all things cycling, bringing together the best of BMX, road racing, and fixed-gear racing in a festival that is unrestricted by age, experience or gender.

Race coverage begins on Sunday, June 19th at 4:00 pm [ET], and will broadcast streaming live online at http://www.rockstargames.com/skyscraperclassic, and on NYC Live TV, Channel 25 in New York City.

Thanks to All for Coming Out to the 2010 Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic (Photos & Recap)

(Cyclists rounding the bend as they look to break away for a lead)

Thanks to everyone that came out to the 37th Annual Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic. Father’s Day at Marcus Garvey Park was full of action this year as German Track Duo Christian Grasmann and Leif Lampater claimed a decisive victory over a talented host of riders in this year's competition.

The day began with several races for children of all ages. DJ Lance Rock of Yo Gabba Gabba! performed while the kids and teenagers sped around the park. DJ Mister Cee and Biz Markie deejayed and performed to keep the crowds moving with hip-hop classics during all the exciting amateur and pro race action.

Olympic Silver Medalist Nelson Vails was in attendance to oversee the children’s races, which was declared a Mayor’s Cup event, crowning the winner as the “Fastest riders in New York City.” Winners received a new bicycle, and all competitors were given a free helmet courtesy of the Department of Transportation.

In the women’s competition, sprinting sensation Laura Van Gilder bested her peers in a short race. Laura McCaughey and Kimberly Edwards placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The Men’s Pro Race, as well as our live stream, kicked off at 4 PM with German track
champion and Rockstar Team rider Christian Grasmann breaking away from the pack early on in the competition, keeping the other riders 15 to 20 seconds behind. Shortly after his teammate, Leif Lampater, joined him ahead of the pack. The duo, both known for their prowess as Six-day racers, kept up an unrelenting pace until the end. The rest  of the cyclists were unable to break away from the pack themselves and gain any ground. The pair fended off numerous attacks and were able to maintain a gap that ranged from 15-30 seconds. Grasmann and Lampater crossed the finish line in 1st and 2nd place, respectively, followed by Melito Heredia, who rode for Innovation Bike, crossing 3rd in the Men’s Pro Race.

Check out a few photos from the event below - you can see many more as well as a captured video stream of the entire Men's Pro Race at www.rockstargames.com/skyscraperclassic/2010/.
