First Four Multiplayer Faces Have Been Selected in the #MaxPayne3 Casting Event

Congrats to our first four #MaxPayne3 multiplayer gang members, (from left) @HaraldFraenkel, @Alexisssx3, @Wheelerj28, @ElvisMarques. We still have another four to pick, so keep using the hashtag for your chance to be noticed and selected.

Today we’re proud to announce that the first 4 people have been cast (of a total eventual 8) in our special #MaxPayne3 casting event via Twitter.

For the week ending December 23rd, @HaraldFraenkel of Germany and @Alexisssx3 of California, US are our first pair of Max Payne 3 multiplayer gang faces. And for the week ending December 30th, @Wheelerj28 of Canada and @ElvisMarques of Brazil are our pair. Congratulations, lady and gents.

Harald won us over with his incredible look – with the classic shaved head Mohawk and aggressive demeanor, looks totally like someone who’d be believable facing off in an online deathmatch.

Alexis "Lou" caught our eye with her gauntlet-throw below in our direction and quite true claim that every multiplayer gang needs a bad ass female assassin.

Dave Wheeler is known up in Winnipeg, Canada as morning show mouthpiece of local rock radio station Power 97 and caught our eye with his campaign to proudly let his listeners virtually shoot him in the mug should he be cast.

And Elvis Marques is a devoted fan hailing from Max Payne 3's locale of Brazil - it's only right that this unit have at least one Brasileiro verdadeiro, and who better than a member of the troop who call themselves the #MaxPayne3 Family (shout to scareface1970, keep it up and good luck!).

This is the last week to be chosen so keep using the #MaxPayne3 hashtag everyone to make sure we notice you! Also make sure you're following us on Twitter, and checking your DMs regularly.

Hit the official event page at http://www.rockstargames.com/maxpayne3/casting for all the details and for official rules. We’ll be casting through this Friday, January 13th.

Your Likeness as a Max Payne 3 Multiplayer Character

Beginning today and continuing through January 13th, 2012, we're offering our Twitter followers the unique opportunity to be immortalized as one of eight Max Payne 3 multiplayer gang characters, just by using the #MaxPayne3 hashtag on Twitter.

Every week from now until January 13th, we'll be selecting ten people at random that we've spotted using the #MaxPayne3 hashtag. If you’re one of those chosen, we'll contact you either via tweet or direct message to request a picture of you for consideration. We'll then pick two people from each group each week (eight people in total) who will have their likeness appear as a multiplayer gang character in our upcoming action shooter Max Payne 3.

  • Make sure you're following @RockstarGames on Twitter.
  • Make sure you're using the hashtag #MaxPayne3 when you talk about the game.
  • Keep an eye on your twitter replies and direct messages for us to contact you through January 13th, 2012. All fans that we contact will only have 48 hours to respond.

Visit the casting page for all of the details, and the official rules.

New York Comic Con Recap with Impressions of Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition

[Top Left: Cos-player of the show as far as we're concerned, a John Marston complete with scarred cheek; Top Right: A dedicated fan shows off a Rockstar logo tattoo; Bottom Left: Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary mugs given out at the show and coming soon to the Warehouse; Bottom Right: Fans at the booth getting hooked up with shirts, posters and more.]

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at New York Comic Con this past weekend whether to check out the live gameplay demo of Max Payne 3, to go hands-on with Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition for mobile - or to score some of the limited-edition and collectible gear pictured above (look for these items and more to land at the newly re-launched Rockstar warehouse soon), we had both games on display to fans and press alike. You can check out the pics above in higher res along with some other shots from the show over at our Twitter stream. Below is a look at early impressions from some of the gaming sites that were on hand at the show revealing what they saw - and look for more in a roundup to be featured here later this week.

Max Payne 3:

"Max, inspired by the real-life look of voice actor James McCaffrey, is physics-tuned to, well, the max. He walks and falls and flies through the air in slow motion like a human who has all 206 bones to use. What’s seen so far is really a marvel of motion capture and game design. Even as Max is falling to the ground, you can carefully lock on, aim and shoot. That’s going to be compelling with a weapon in each hand."

"[Max Payne 3] is powered by the same engine as Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto IV, albeit with some improvements. In the first scene of the hands-off demo - a shoot-out at Max's New York apartment - Max stepped onto the roof and gave us a jaw-dropping, winter time view of the Manhattan skyline. Furthermore, all the characters have been motion captured, making every little movement realistic." - Cinema Blend

"Rockstar went through a lot of motion capture work to get the characters right. It has paid off. Max, and every other character we saw, from allies to the most basic of enemies, are all a part of their environment. Max hops over barriers, takes cover and even takes actual footsteps (no sliding!) to move around.  Even quick changes of direction result in Max planting his foot and his body shifting." - DualShockers

Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition:

"After about 10 minutes of hands-on time with the game running on an iPad 2, there's no mistaking that GTA III on iOS is a loving port of the game that catapulted Rockstar to the top echelon of game developers. The up-rezzed graphics become immediately apparent, with tons more detail on character faces and clothes." - Kotaku

http://kotaku.com/5849639/grand-theft-auto-iii-on-ios-looks-better-than-you-remember

"It features faces with cleaner, more human-like facial detail... That attention to detail applies to the world you traverse as well. I really wanted to jump to the Callahan Bridge area just to check out the city’s vista at night. There’s subtle shading and a looming foggy look at you walk or ride down a street. The polished sheen on car paint now shows off real-time reflections of the nearby environment as you pass."

A Los Angeles Noire Weekend Recap

A big shout to Marty Weishaupt (aka 'shmart' on Rockstar Social Club), the winner of the Los Angeles Noire Sweepstakes, along with some of our longstanding friends from the Rockstar fansite world and community at large for joining us in Los Angeles to properly experience L.A. Noire in the City of Angels herself.

At the landmark Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard, everyone was first treated to a special private presentation of The Red Lipstick Murder case from the Homicide desk - thanks especially to some of our LA-area friends Woody Jackson, DJ Pooh, Young Maylay, DJ Quik, Casey McKinnon, Cricket Lee, and bands The Lost Prophets and Grace and Manners for coming through.

Throughout the weekend, Marty and our Rockstar fansite guests from across North America and the UK got to tour Los Angeles, seeing some of the historically relevant sights including locations from the Black Dahlia murder case and some parts of the city that make an appearance in the game -
and of course, most importantly, got the rare opportunity to go hands-on spending some real quality time playing L.A. Noire (read on for some impression from them and others below).

The historic Roosevelt Hotel, our homebase on the trip and a site you'll see in L.A. Noire itself.

Here are impressions from some of those that joined us, along with links to some brand new exclusive screenshots that can be found at the fan sites.

"L.A. Noire is a stunning experience. There is nothing like it on the market now, nor has there really ever been something that attempts so much and seems to excel at it across the board." TeamXbox

"Team Bondi set out to capture the essence of 1947 Los Angeles and they did exactly that. I didn't let my invitation by Rockstar Games and being able to play the game early cloud my judgment of the game. I am a fan just like you guys, and I personally can't wait to pick up my pre-ordered copy on May 17th!" - Rockstar Network

"Noire had exceeded my expectations ten fold. I knew I would be witnessing a work of art but I had no idea that it would be that fine tuned or that mentally involving." - Marty Weishaupt, Los Angeles Noire Sweepstakes winner

"It's the kind of game a group of people could sit around and shout out at the one who's playing telling them to check different areas for clues, or giving their own opinions on whether a suspect is lying. It's definitely something different, but it's something that's extremely enjoyable to play and each case can go down a number of different routes depending on the evidence you find, the questions you ask and the responses you give and receive. GTA fans won't be disappointed and I'm pretty confident a lot of new Rockstar gamers will be brought in with this game." - iGrandTheftAuto

"You will always eventually solve the case, but they can take varying lengths of time depending on how you decide to investigate. This makes the replay value of L.A. Noire skyrocket and opens up the potential for previously unheard dialogue and unseen cutscenes with each new game." - GTA Warehouse

"The look and feel of the city is so true to its time period. The cutscenes and interrogations are so lifelike because the actor’s performances are realistically captured... It’s a groundbreaking game that challenges your wits and lets you decide the course of the story." - LANoireGaming

"So, how amazing is this game? My colleague and I said 'Wow' about 15 times during the 30 minute demo while shaking our heads in disbelief at how beautiful and smooth the game looked." - Cricket Lee (Girl Gamer / Pop Galaxy)

Thanks as well to LANoireDB and LA-Noire.net who attended - and everyone who came out to check out L.A. Noire. Cheers to all in the community worldwide - stay tuned as we hope to get more of you involved in Rockstar events in the future.

L.A. Noire Honored as First Videogame to Make Official Selection of the Tribeca Film Festival

We are very pleased to announce that L.A. Noire has been honored as an Official Selection at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, marking the first time ever that a video game has been recognized by the festival.

For anyone attending the festival, we will be presenting an exclusive preview of the game as part of the Tribeca Talks series on Monday April 25th.  The presentation will feature a live demonstration of part of a case from the game, followed by a Q&A exploring the crossover between filmmaking and interactive entertainment.

“What Rockstar and Team Bondi have accomplished with L.A. Noire is nothing less than groundbreaking,” said Geoff Gilmore, Chief Creative Officer of Tribeca Enterprises. “It’s an invention of a new realm of storytelling that is part cinema, part gaming, and a whole new realm of narrative expression, interactivity, and immersion. We are poised on the edge of a new frontier.”
