(We floored it for three plus hours in last week's Midnight Club LA Xbox LIVE event...)
Lead-footed competitors from all around the world jumped on to Xbox LIVE last Friday night to unite with us on the streets of Los Angeles - showing off their flashy customized rides and racing for glory in our first Midnight Club Los Angeles event in the official Rockstar Social Club Multiplayer Events Series. Altogether, we raced with hundreds of players around pretty much every square inch of the city for more than three hours on Xbox LIVE. Winners were crowned. Losers were jeered. And lots of nitrous was in the air...
Read on for a recap (along with screens) of some of the most heated moments...
Entering into Cruise mode a bit before 4:00 Eastern were our own GwRockstar3, GwRockstar4, GwRockstar5 and GwRockstar6. With the gauntlet thrown down, we lined up in the Landmark Race at Watts Face Off. Redeye00785 fired off the starting line with xXBROTHERHOODXx following right behind. ThirteenAG and Xxb0nebrakerxX were breathing down their necks in 3rd and 4th places respectively, looking for the slightest mistake by the race leaders that would allow them to gain ground. After a few turns and an unscheduled meeting or two with a concrete median, three of them fell behind, giving Xxb0nebrakerxX a come-from-behind 1st place victory.
With a new Around Hollywood race, came a new set of takers. On 'GO', racers split up, splitting up to take different routes only five seconds in. Redeye00785 took an alley to the right, quickly taking the lead. The street racer never looked back - finishing in front of the second place ThirteenAG by a whopping 11 seconds... a virtual eternity in racing...
(Redeye00785 takes the alley to the right at the beginning, a wise decision that eventually helped earn a win...)
Moving on, a challenge was issued by Xxb0nebrakerxX to enter the Ordered Race known as River Valley. It began with previous champ redeye00785 taking the lead once again in front of Gamerzworld, Mudbutt1583, GwRockstar3, ThirteenAG and MADDMATT1234567. But another contender that started near dead last would be the victorious one in this race. URCboom sped past everyone out of nowhere, taking 1st place and the win, leaving four seconds to spare...
GwRockstar3 then challenged everyone to an Ordered Race in the Laurel Canyon Run. GwRockstar3 took a quick lead, but that blasted redeye00785 used a little NOS and boosted ahead. It looked as if the lead might have lasted, cruising impeccably for more than a minute. But SxeY x ShAdOwZz had plans of his own, zooming in and crossing the finish line ahead of URCboom by a narrow two seconds.
(Eventual champion SxeY x ShAdOwZz gains ground on MADDMATT1234567, narrowly missing the explosive gasoline pumps...)
Going into Full City Keep Away, Gamerzworld managed to pick up the flag for only two seconds before Stinkwiser stole it away, taking the lead. From there, the flag was constantly changing hands between those two and ThirteenAG, scooby66612 and G UNIT 091. In the end, a dark horse, marty00 eventually claimed the top prize - holding the flag for a total of 112 seconds.
(Gamerzworld flees with the flag at the beginning of a match of Full City Keep Away.)
ThirteenAG next offered up a match of Keep Away in South Central. Redeye00785 was the first to grab the flag, but was only able to hold it for four seconds before our GwRockstar3 snatched it away, evasively turning down another street. 48 seconds later, SxeY x ShAdOwZz snagged it, taking off up an alley way. The flag then traded racers every few seconds until redeye00785 was able to maintain and accrue possession time long enough to win first place.
(SxeY x ShAdOwZz uses a 'Stop' power-up on GwRockstar3, before cruising up the alley with the flag...)
Next up was a meet on Fairfax and Sunset. The Ordered Race began with Gamerzworld and dimitricoley fighting neck-and-neck for the lead. Little did they know that the victor of this race would be the one following right in their rear-views: URCboom. While Gamerzworld and URCboom did stay in contention, it soon became clear that this was URCboom's moment as he crossed the finish line ahead of Gamerzworld by eight full seconds.
For a grand finale – we got into an insane Basewar Capture The Flag session in Sepulveda Showdown. On the blue team: URCboom, XX m crazy XX, Marnit, UNT SENTENCIA, STINKWISER, topham1, TheoNB and Markko2009. On the red team (how LA!): G UNIT 091, Lolz w00t, WizenSage, GwRockstar3, CAR 3 KING, AHzacxemzy, and SxeY x ShAdOwZz. During the ten minute round, AHzacxemzy and WizensAGE saved the red flag, allowing SxeY x ShAdOwZz to deliver it for two points. This gave the red team a 6-0 lead. The lead later increased to a 9-0 blowout with the blue team trailing far behind. URCboom delivered the first two points for the blue team making it 9-2, but it wasn't enough as SxeY x ShAdOwZz delivered the final blow, giving the red team two more points for an easy 11-3 barn burner.
(Players in a complete frenzy to deliver the flag for points in Basewar Capture The Flag...)
Here's a list of most of the 1st place winners from the event. Give it up for the champs...
And now a list of everyone that joined in with us. Thanks to everyone and apologies for anyone that might be omitted:

(The first Grand Theft Auto IV PC event in the Official Social Club Multiplayer Events series started off with quite a bang...)
We welcomed throngs of bloodthirsty Grand Theft Auto IV PC players last Thursday afternoon to play with and against us online in the first PC platform installment of the official Social Club multiplayer events series.
It definitely got kinda’ hectic with at one point a fully maxed-out 32-player multiplayer session on Games for Windows LIVE – and was good to get to play with more folks than ever as we tore through GTA Races and Deathmatches for over three full hours. Have a glance at the recently announced full calendar of events which covers the coming months, including Grand Theft Auto IV, Midnight Club LA, and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City.
The next event is coming tomorrow, February 26th – with a long-awaited Midnight Club Los Angeles session on Xbox LIVE. Look for Gamertag details to be announced later today.
Read on for a full recap of action highlights from last week’s Grand Theft Auto IV PC event - with screens for evidence!

(32 accounted for and ready to roll...)
Rolling into the first lobby were 32 eager drivers eyeing the finish line on the Francis International runway. Players lined the airstrip in a vast assemblage of Liberty City’s fastest sports cars ready to roll in some GTA Race action. Seconds after the green light, bedlam was already ensuing - with several cars flipping over as racers jockeyed for position. A couple poor souls even ran straight into the taxiing jumbo jet as it made its way to the airstrip. Each turn was a fierce breakneck battle as players rammed their vehicles into each other, causing the hapless to careen into walls, ramps and even the sea.
From there, everyone cruised into Star Junction, just in time to give the midtown, midday lunch crowd of pedestrians a bit of a thrill. Definitely separated the men from the boys with expert driving required to navigate the tight turns and city obstacles compared to the previous relative spaciousness of the Francis Airport runway – more than a few would-be speedsters couldn’t quite take those tight turns and found themselves airborne, in head-ons, or completely flipped...

(Watch out for that first corner in the race, Stars In Your Eyes - it's a doozy...)
Trigger fingers were itching – so we hopped over to the moonlit northern end of Algonquin, where players grabbed their pistols and jumped into full-on Team Deathmatch. Some climbed back into vehicles ready for some drive-bys, some camped out at sniping positions on rooftops and a few others just ran around in the middle of the road (…suckers). Action was spread all over the city: SMG's and bullet-riddled car chases in Alderney, pistol fights with tree cover in upper Middle Park, hit-and-runs outside the tw@ Internet Cafe and two cars trying to take down a helicopter at the airport.

(The night was dark and silent...with the notable exception of sudden muzzle flashes and gunfire...)
A new crop of players entered Team Deathmatch, ready to show their skills against Rockstar's purported prowess. Bullets flew and no one was safe from that dreaded death slo-mo, black & white death sequence. Eventually moving the action to an industrial area, the smart team was the one that took a more elevated position, lobbing Molotov cocktails and raining gunfire down on the opposing team below.
(The battle raged on with gunfire and Molotovs from above...)
Shell shocked from all the rounds fired, and by popular demand, we went into one last quick GTA Race, with 32 players in emergency vehicles burning off the starting line in Broker. Sirens wailing as players zigzagged around one another, gaining speed for the jump beneath Outlook's arch in the middle of the roundabout. Incoming gunfire and collisions thwarted one player's vehicle from even being able to make it one lap, rendering his LCPD cruiser a twisted heap of burning metal... Sorry, guy!

(Looks like the LCPD needs to call the LCFD...)
Big shout again to all of you that were able to make it through for the event – here’s a quick list of attendees by our accounts – as always, apologies to anyone omitted:

(Ready to roll out in Star Junction...)
The first of many planned Social Club Multiplayer Events on PlayStation Network is in the books. A great time taking it to PSN with a proper three+ hour session of nonstop Grand Theft Auto IV PS3 multiplayer mayhem. If you missed out, make sure to check out the recently announced full calendar of events in this series over the coming months, which will include Grand Theft Auto IV, Midnight Club LA, and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City.
The next round will be an official Grand Theft Auto IV PC multiplayer session happening next week on Games for Windows LIVE. Read on for a full proper recap with screens of last week’s Grand Theft Auto IV PSN event held on February 5th...
We kicked it off with some classic Team Deathmatch. It was an overcast day inside the walls of Alderney State Correctional Facility. Our own RockstarMulti1 and RockstarMulti3 scattered and began to battle it out with three others: Devine-Rhymes, Jaaay2k and Green-. One player, mssk, unleashed hell from the center guard tower with a sniper rifle. But RockstarMulti1 found his way up the stairs, approaching the deadly sniper from behind. The surprise attack seemed an easy one, but mssk turned around and fired a bullet right between RockstarMulti1's eyes. Lights out.
.jpg)
(mssk thwarts RockstarMulti1's sneak attack, turning around in time to take him down.)
The skies were a bit sunnier over in Dukes as a new crop of players arrived at Francis International Airport. Juju407 quickly became a menacing adversary as he chased down RockstarMulti1 with an Annihilator helicopter, his blades slicing through lamp posts and anything that moved. However, it was the skills of BulletFly and RentALine that ended up being victorious over all others.
.jpg)
(Juju407 wreaks havoc over Francis International Airport, using the blades of the Annihilator as his primary weapon.)
Next up, we got full swing into some Cops ‘n Crooks. Wailing sirens echoed in the streets, getting louder as they approached the boss and his men on Team Two - but it took less than a minute for RockstarGamer_, the boss, to fall thanks to the quick skills of dotCody on Team One. Teams then switched sides and it was up to W1ckeDV2 to stay alive now as the new man in charge. Racing to the goal in one piece, he managed to prevail and help win yet another match for his team.
.jpg)
(RockstarGamer_ prepares to run with the protection of his men. They ended up failing him seconds later... Wamp wamp.)
After the Cops ‘n Crooks were through battling and the dust settled, we jumped into a bit of Team Mafiya Work with MCDrank and our own RockstarMulti1 working on Team Two picking up Petrovic's daughter and friends to escort them safely to their destination. However, Team One, led by dotCody showed up with some firepower giving all they could to stop ‘em or blow up the vehicle. All in vain though, as RockstarMulti1 pulled off some fine evasive maneuvering to take Team Two to victory.
.jpg)
(RockstarMulti1 assembles his team: AndyGanteks, DiekoThaKurd, RockstarGamer_ and TeC_BatesAvfc.)
Taking to the skies, a fierce GTA Race began – with helicopters.
Blades were spinning so close together that hbk1986114 sliced RockstarMulti1’s chopper to pieces. It wasn't long before the same thing happened to hbk1986114 as GuitarHero_Dude aimed specifically for him, cutting his heli in two. Henning92 ended up coming out on top, unscathed, determined, and first at the finish line. Well done, sir.
.jpg)
(hbk1986114 carves into RockstarMulti1's helicopter, splitting it into pieces.)
Back to ground level as engines roared for a GTA Race street heat in Star Junction. The first lap of the race was pretty neck-and-neck, but after that it was apparent GTA Race star of the day, Henning92, who took a comfortable lead. A bit of drama in the end, as our RockstarMulti1 caught up to give him a run for his money, and wound up accidentally mowing down teammate and Rockstar compatriot, RockstarMulti2, who happened to be standing in the way en route to second place.
.jpg)
(RockstarMulti1 and Henning92 were neck and neck as the race approached the finish line,
while RockstarMulti2 was on-foot – playing in the street at the wrong time...)
Finishing the session with some Free Mode, things started out seemingly calm - but soon x-magus and RockstarMulti1 started fighting like brother and sister, getting along one moment and then jumping out of the helicopter the next, leaving the other behind to crash. RockstarMulti1 then teamed up with ati_kiraly and took on GV-Rafioso, for a deadly game of drive-by bumper cars. Then things got a bit awkward and ugly when RockstarMulti1 decided he had enough and bailed out of the car, and ati_kiraly responded by running over his former partner-in-crime. RockstarMulti1 then partnered up with x-magus and GV-Rafioso to bring the pain to ati_kiraly. Typical Free Mode anarchy ultimately found everyone firing on one another with utter abandonment. Why can't we all just get along?
.jpg)
(Anarchy abounds in Free Mode as x-magus fires on a vulnerable GV-Rafioso.)
