Max Payne 3 at PAX East Recap

Thanks to everybody that came out to PAX East in Boston this weekend and hit up the Rockstar booth for the chance to go hands-on with Max Payne 3 across all platforms - PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Attendees who made their way in through the East entrance were greeted by the 40 foot tall banners of Max adorning all four corners of the booth - with Friday attendees getting to play the Stadium level recently previewed by the gaming press, while guests on Saturday and Sunday were treated to a whole different scenario from Max's time in New York.

Fans eager to experience the return of Max Payne braved long lines at our booth to have a go (a special shout to anybody that came through twice to see both levels). Among those that stopped by: @jaclynejimenez from our #MaxPayne3 Twitter Casting Event. After having a first play of the PC version (thanks as well to Origin for supplying our kits) she vowed to take on all comers in the first Max Payne 3 PC Social Club Multiplayer Event on June 3rd. Fan site admin Domenic Fiore also came by - you can check out his impressions of the experience right now on And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention the gentleman who flashed us his GTAIV Key to Liberty City while he was queued up in line, plus a re-appearance of a Cole Phelps cos-player we met originally at NYCC last fall (see the slideshow above for a pic).

Props to our longtime booth DJ Chess Hubbard for keeping the music pumping all weekend long and to everyone who scored new Max Payne 3 gear we were handing out - if you weren't there we hope you had a chance to enter our giveaway on Facebook this past weekend - look for the winners to be announced very soon. These items should also be rolling out on the Rockstar Warehouse for purchase over the next few weeks as well, so stay tuned.

For those that were not able to make it, we hope the steady stream of updates from our Twitter feed helped you feel like you were there in spirit - we can't wait for everybody to get their hands on the game next month. Read on for a selection of quotes from some of the gaming press also in attendance.

Your Pax East booth has been great the last three years. It's always been worth the long lines. I also really enjoy the music--keep bringing DJ Chess back!

Any news about the results of tast WE contest (Max Payne 3 special gear) ? :)

DGSimo April 11, 2012

Got my PAX gift pack today! Awesome gear and the multiplayer book has some new screens in it too. It also answers a question about Payne Killer some asked in that Max and Passo's appearance changes depending on what map you play Payne Killer on.

Example being that if it's the docks then Max is wearing the bullet proof vest and has a head full of hair because thats how he appears during that level in single player and so forth.

@RS_Onside In Max Payne 3, you'll be able to choose if you want the third person camera to be behind Max's left side or right side

@JaclynJimenez Thanks so much Jaclyn, it was great having you at our booth to play Max Payne 3, see you for the PC multiplayer event on June 1st!

Big thanks again to the wonderful people at Rockstar Games ... for having the demo out for people to play and of course for making my dreams come true by putting my face on a multiplayer character in the game. PAX East was awesome, and getting to play the Max Payne demo was definitely a highlight of my time there. I was especially happy that you had PCs set up to play Max Payne 3 as well, I assumed it would all be consoles. Glad you're not forgetting about the PC gamers :)
Thanks for everything - I will wear my Max Payne 3 shirt proudly! And I'm counting down the days 'til the Social Club Max Payne Mutliplayer PC event in June.

Didnt attend this event, sadly. I heard that lines were up to four hours long. Yikes! Good to hear though that the Max Payne swag will be up for sale on the warehouse.

Too cool Rockstar.
